You ever read one of those books that’s just impossible to put down? I think every book lover has read a few of them. About 11 hours ago, I started this book. I took it to work with me, read it in between customers coming. I set it down for a little while to pack for school. I couldn’t stop coming back to it though. Even this evening when my eyes were burning from reading it on the bright screen of the iPad, I wanted to know what happened in the end.
The book was completely different than I thought it would be. I guess I assumed the whole book would be focused around “Room” and the big escape, when that was really just the beginning. Jack, the five year old boy and narrator of the story, was one of the most interesting characters I’ve ever come across in my reading. He was smart, he questioned everything…just as most five year old children do, I suppose. And his Ma? Well she’s probably the most brave, creative, and heroic character I’ve ever come across.
I definitely suggest reading this, and I suggest picking an entire day to sit down and read it, because you won’t want to stop.
Also, after reading it check out this website — it takes you inside Room itself and gives you a better understanding of what Jack and Ma had to live in. The ability to do all of the things they did in such a small space amazes me.
