This semester so far has been full of adventures, more so than usual, and a few I’d like to share.
As a lot of you probably know, I love baseball a lot. I mean, A LOT. A friend and I ended up taking a road trip down to Washington D.C. for a weekend after scoring awesome tickets to a Nationals vs. Brewers game. I’ll always be a die-hard Red Sox fan, but I have to admit, the energy at this game blew me away. The Nationals won, too!
The weekend continued with a trip to the National Zoo to visit my cousin, Leigh, a zookeeper there. She took us behind-the-scenes to meet the big cats, who were absolutely beautiful, and let us feed an anteater. Did you know that anteaters love peanut butter? Weird, right?
A semester full of sports continued this past weekend after I was given a chance to go to the Steelers vs. Eagles game in Pittsburgh with a group of friends. Once again, the energy at Heinz Field amazed me, and even though it was cold, raining and pretty miserable outside, it was the most fun I’ve had in a while.
This coming weekend, I’ll be heading to Camp Dawson, West Virginia, as an embedded journalist in an ROTC training event. You can count on me writing about that all weekend while I’m there, and make sure you check out my tweets throughout the day, I’m sure they’ll be hilarious – @EllenMatis
