Real life.

Its officially been a month since graduation as of today. One month since I moved in to a “real” apartment, since I’ve been on my own and since everything changed.

It isn’t everything I hoped it’d be.

My main issue? I have way more free time than any normal human being should have.

The past few years, aka “the college years,” I’ve had a million things on my plate. Between being second in command at the school newspaper, an internship, classes, volunteer work and a semi-frequent social life, I never had a free moment. I embraced boredom because it meant I had a second to take a nap.

Now I’ve fallen into a streak of unwanted normalcy.

I get up. I go to work. I go home.

This is the part where you say, “Ellen, you need a hobby.”

And you would be right. Sure, I’ve got tons already: I wrote a song last week, I’ve started writing a new novel that’s sure to be absolute rubbish and, if you couldn’t tell by my adjective choice, I’ve watched a ridiculous amount of British movies. But I need something new.

This is where you suggest something. Do it. I know you want to.

PS- I’m joining the YMCA this week. If nothing else, at least I’ll be able to swim and pretend that I exercise every once and a while.

I’ll leave you with this Taylor Swift song because I’ve been feeling 22. Or maybe just 21.

What did you expect? College is the best time of your life just because there is a ton of things to do. When you enter the real world you get up, go to work, and go to sleep. I was in the same boat, so I went back to school. I’m back in the same boat again, so I am going back to school–again!

Life is like that. That is how we ended up with Tucker. Dave and I needed a puppy to make life interesting. iI was still bored in the summer so I got a part time job. Then I started grad classes. Then I had kids – now there is no free time again!
