Pull Yourself Together, Love

When I was still a part of Loveless Signature, an acoustic band with an amazing friend from high school, I wrote a song in honor of the Strength in Hope charity and performed it with her at one of the SiH shows. SiH was created to break the awkwardness and raise awareness of suicide. When I wrote these lyrics, I had no idea they’d be hitting close to home years later.

Once upon a time they saw everything with open eyes, open heart, open soul, open mind
Saw the beauty, saw the sun shine through the cracks,
get it back, get it back

I want to run to you but there’s nothing left, nothing left to feel alive.
Now you’re broken, got no where to hide…
stay alive, stay alive.

Let the love run under your skin, let it run through your veins, let it take over your body and stay.
Don’t look at what you’ve become, be who you’re meant to be…
don’t cry, don’t cry, just run to me.

And sometimes the road, it’ll feel like it’s too far,
Pull yourself together, love, I told you you’re a star.
Someone out there loves you, someone out there cares,
Someone wants to love you, someone understands

Let the love run under your skin, let it run through your veins, let it take over your body and stay.
You can shine bright, bright like summer’s sky,
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t say goodbye.

I never thought I’d be singing this song for you, buddy. Rest in peace<3
