Summer Reading List

Current read: A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand
I started this book a few weeks ago when I found it on the “library” shelf at work. Unfortunately I haven’t had too much time to dedicate to it, but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far. Hilderbrand’s style of writing is conversational, and I like that in a book.’

Next: The Love of my Life by Louise Douglas
“‘I miss him with every breath and heartbeat. He should have been my happy ending. Instead, he is the sad beginning to my story’. Olivia and Luca Felicone had known each other nearly all their lives, but when they fell in love as teenagers and eloped to London they broke the hearts of those closest to them.”

After that: The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
On a seemingly ordinary Saturday in a California suburb, 11-year-old Julia and her family awake to discover, along with the rest of the world, that the rotation of the earth has suddenly begun to slow. The days and nights grow longer and longer, gravity is affected, the environment is thrown into disarray. Yet as she struggles to navigate an ever-shifting landscape, Julia is also coping with the normal disasters of everyday life–the fissures in her parents’ marriage, the loss of old friends, the hopeful anguish of first love, the bizarre behavior of her grandfather who, convinced of a government conspiracy, spends his days obsessively cataloging his possessions. As Julia adjusts to the new normal, the slowing inexorably continues.”

And then: My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
“The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything.”
